Basically, I am about to share my fashion secrets with you all so be good a listen.
( disclaimer I am not perfect at these either)
I am not a fashionstia, I can appreciate like every girl the well made hand tailored items and lets be honest if we all had the money, we know where we would spend it.
A girlfriend of mine asked me the other day, 'how do your outfits always seem to flow from head to toe? You never have the awkward space between the pants and shirt (where you have a little something to hold on to), if your wearing a sweater I feel like you can't tell you even have anything on underneath it. Please teach me your ways I hate the play by play outfits!"
well the first thing:
I am going to mention is that I have a very fashionable mother
she is a wonderful person and has taught me very, very well.
the second thing is:
I know all of you mormon ladies are looking for a little help and inspiration so go here and look at all of those Mormon fashion bloggers,
then come back here and thank me:)
if you don't that would be totally rude;)
HAYLEY'S FOUR RULES:
First rule: the clothes you are buying are not meant to give everyone around a clear understanding of what you are wearing underneath them. Slips, Spanx's and undershirts are still available for purchase and you should wear them only to enhance the clean, smooth, outward appearance of the clothes you have chosen to wear.
Slips: use these when you have a cotton fabric dress that sticks to that tell tell line on your rear, or when you have tucked a shirt into a skirt. These most important are so that my neighbor, his neighbor and the guy behind them can't see straight through that dress/skirt of yours.
Spanx's: these help you get rid of those problems areas that everyone has! It keeps everything tucked in to its place and allows those seems to go in a curvy line around the right curves.
Undershirts: Are supposed to be exactly what they are called, under your shirt. I know that in the 90's we all thought it was cool to be lazy and only put one shirt on when we walked out in the morning and call it good. Its not that way anymore. Please don't wear them like it is a real shirt.

Second Rule: Your bras are not meant to been seen ... ever! When you get dressed in the morning you are not looking first for the bra , but for the shirt. You must learn to think, What bra can I wear with this shirt?
if the shirt is white: DON'T you dare reach for a colored bra or a white one. Any of these and that kid three rows behind you in class knows you are wearing that cute pink leopard print bra you got last weekend on sale. If you wear the white the same kid can also read the brand name, the size, and washing instructions. You must wear a nude colored bra so that we can't see it and your darling out fit isn't ruined by the color shape or lines in the back.
other no no's:
Black Shirt/white bra.... any pressure on the front and you can see it right through the seems.
Cream Shirts/colored bras or cream bra.... same as the white no one wants to see it.

Third Rule: Respect the design of the clothing. If it was not given sleeves, you shouldn't wear it with a t-shirt underneath it. A cardigan is a much better choice and gives the pieces its integrity back. If has a darling trim on the bottom don't pair it with something else that is going to take away from it. If you need other examples, because you are wondering if you are about to do the same thing to something you are wearing the answer is no, you shouldn't wear that. like this girl here.....

Fourth and Final rule: Your body is gorgeous, and even if you don't think it is, there are plenty of ways to fake it, dress it correctly and show of the things that you love about it. Creating a smooth line from just below your chest all the way through the knee, will help my fellow sisters with hips, tummies, and that little something something to hold on too. Accentuate your natural waist, yes that may be a little uncomfortable for you to realize its 6 inches above your plant line now, but it will cover and get rid of the famous muffin top... creating a smooth line for your top to fall on to... so buy those jeans a little higher... (this also helps if you don't have a butt it puts the pockets where they are supposed to be giving you the attention you need) also go pick up a copy of instyle magazine find out what body shape you are and learn how to dress for it. Watch "what not to wear" Phill is a GENIUS.

I hope this helps you all a little bit.
