Decorating

Hey there!

So I have been promising to a few people I would post some of these for you all to see.

A few things:
I profess to not be anything close to good at this, I simply copy and combine from things I have seen and like.... Second: The pillows are frumpy and you can't see the mess that is my apartment... (Those side tables have never looked so clean!) Lastly: Our apartment has all these weird "little walls" and corners and windows, it fun to decorate but also hard to place things, and I am sure there are better ways to make this place look, but for now its perfect!

I love artwork and picture frames. Also, we are avid readers which causes books to be everywhere... So they are in almost every area of the house. In fact, I am grateful for my new shelves in our bedroom we put up them today, because I can finally have more space in my drawers for new books!

I saw these ideas on Pinterest and wanted to do something like them in our bedroom.

said Idea number one
I really liked the vases empty nothing special just great color, and the books of course

said Idea number two
I loved!!! the large letters and the shelf in this one, it was just warm and cozy.

said Idea number three
Last I loved the height dynamics in this, ( yes I know its not over a bed) I also loved the plants; surprise!

So this is what I came up with...

I think I will eventually hang the large{empty} gold frame and place a plant right underneath it.
The plate and the vase are from our recent trip to Mexico. The vase with the ranunculus is from my room growing up.. Thanks Mom! The K & H are from Hobby Lobby ( which I am not sure whether to love that place or keep my wallet away) the plaque and gold frame are from there as well. The shelves are target.

The next project was a surprise project. Everywhere I have travelled my mom and I have always gotten watercolors from, its a tradition. Sometimes I branch out and get oil paintings or when the paintings aren't available, I buy postcards. So my brothers and I have these framed collections that have been in our childhood rooms and grow each year.
Well, when I went to Europe in 2010 I brought home a ton of watercolors! and the surprise of the project is that my mom, had them framed for us for a Christmas present this last year.
I have 17 framed and 20 total.

I have always wanted a gallery wall of all the watercolors to the places I have travelled. So of course I jump on pinterest to check out some hanging ideas and I found these

Left to right: Greece, Italy(Roma), France(Paris), Italy(roma), Italy(Roma), Hawaii, Czech Republic  (Prague), Italy(Roma), Italy(Venice), Florida(Sanibel Island), France(Paris), Italy(Florence), ItalyVenice), Austria(Salzburg), Italy(Tuscany)
on the top of our TV bookcase is my textbooks from college, a sketch my grandparents gave me of a door in georgetown virginia, our internet router, more ranunculus, and the moss B from our wedding.

These are our wedding pictures, I wanted to display them where we could remember, but they weren't the center of attention,  "hey this is us. We are awesome. So stare at us while you are here!"
Remember earlier when I said lots of little walls?? proof.

This last area was kinda of hard, as you can see its a really short wall with lots of odd placements of ordinary apartment life items. It's another patchwork of frames, old photos of the two of us, and some of our favorite memories. I love these little shelves I had them in my room growing up and they were perfect for this little wall.

So those are a few of my decorated areas and ideas, please feel free to steal them.
Few things I learned:
Decorating with books is always a great way to store them and give you some extra height.
Make it personal. Always no matter what you are the one who has to look at it all the time.
and if you don't like it, then change it. to whatever when ever, its never permanent!

that's it for now!
Catch you later,
-Hayley
